Geographic information systems (GIS) have always been the core expertise of IGEA's business activities since its establishment in 1989. In recent years, the wealth of knowledge and experience has been upgraded into a comprehensive approach to a wide range of consulting and technical services in real estate, infrastructure and space.

IGEA is a company with stable growth and highly educated and trained professionals; more than 70 per cent of our employees have a university degree. Our products and services vary from applicative development, creation of diverse software solutions, web viewers and web services, to consulting and training, space management, business process engineering, etc. We use the project management approach in planning, managing and implementing of all our operations; we do our own research and development studies; we adapt to our client's needs and guarantee high quality and reliability of results. We interlink the expertise and experience in spatial planning, urban economics, geodesy, geographic information systems, information and communication technologies, mathematical and organisational sciences, etc. IGEA generates the majority of its revenue in Slovenia, though it carries out projects in the countries of South-East Europe as well, where it has many partners.

We see future in providing complete services; for this purpose, we are constantly broadening our knowledge and skills and offering services which transcend the traditional way of thinking. This is also reflected in our business approach, which aims at interconnecting various disciplines and experts. Consequently, we are always adapting the organisational form to market needs, penetrating new areas, discovering new market niches, and developing services whose added value can be primarily seen in the interdisciplinarity of results.

At the Slovenian Institute of Quality and Metrology, IGEA has established and maintained a management system which meets the demands of ISO 9001:2000 Standard. It has received the NATO C3 Agency BOA (Basic Ordering Agreement) Certificate and it is registered as a research-and-development organisation at the Slovenian Research Agency.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

IGEA receives most of its income from the projects carried out in Slovenia, where our clients are public and state administration, local communities and private companies. The biggest market share is held by products and services which are directly linked to the management of real-estate registers; however, there is an increased need and demand for complete business services related to the management of real estate, infrastructure and space.

We participated in the setting up of the essential state registers of real estate. The Land Cadastre, Building Cadastre and Cadastre of Public Infrastructure are the three basic registers which are digitised and whose data are available to all interested parties on the World Wide Web. This achievement, enviable even on the international level, was made possible also with the help of our knowledge and work.

If the development of geographic information systems marked the first decade of our existence, it was the use of those data and applications for the purposes of high-quality management of real estate and space that marked the second decade.

A consequence of constant change is also the fact that the needs of today already differ from those in the past. Considering the impact of domestic and foreign capital, it is necessary to plan investment very carefully by a relevant land policy, sensible management of infrastructure and real estate and by pooling of public and private capital and interest. This can only be attained by knowing the physical components of space, its value, land use, sensitivity or vulnerability, planned interventions, etc. For this purpose, IGEA provides high-quality spatial data and integrates them with the Land Cadastre, Building Cadastre, Cadastre of Public Infrastructure, Land Register and Topography information. Ensuring coherence between different strategies of spatial development as a condition for sustainable development, we use analytical solutions of geographic information systems. At the same time, we encourage the development of business opportunities with the interdisciplinary approach, stimulating for an alternative perception of space.
